Furanylfentanyl
Found in:
Fentanyl
Type/Reason added:
Fentanyl Analog
Relative Potency:
7 times stronger than fentanyl (11)
Treatment Options
Supportive Care:
Oxygen supplementation and airway management.
Antidote:
Naloxone is used to reverse respiratory depression. Due to Furanylfentanyl's potency, multiple doses of naloxone may be necessary.
Pharmacokinetics and Dynamics
Metabolism:
Furanylfentanyl is metabolized in the liver, primarily via cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP3A4). Its metabolites are excreted through the urine.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
Furanylfentanyl interacts dangerously with other depressants, such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates, increasing the risk of respiratory depression and overdose. Drugs that inhibit or induce CYP3A4 enzymes can alter its metabolism, potentially enhancing its effects or increasing toxicity.
