Routes of Administration and Effects

Administration: 

It is usually administered orally, but it can also be taken sublingually or, less commonly, via nasal insufflation (snorting).

Dosage and Effects: 

  • Benzodiazepine Effects: Produces typical benzodiazepine effects, including sedation, relief from anxiety, muscle relaxation, and anticonvulsant properties. It also causes significant drowsiness and cognitive impairment.

  • Adverse Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, impaired motor coordination, and memory problems. Severe effects can include respiratory depression, especially when combined with other CNS depressants like alcohol or opioids.

Dose Range (oral):

  • Light: 0.5-1 mg

  • Common: 1-3 mg

  • Strong: 3-5 mg+

Onset and Duration:

  • Onset: 15-45 minutes

  • Duration: 5-8 hours

  • After Effects: 1-12 hours
